Please note: This article is for those using our upgraded rostering; if you are already using rostering, please see this article instead.

Birdie's travel time feature helps you optimise your roster with accurate travel estimates between visits. By automatically calculating and displaying travel times, it helps Care coordinators make smarter scheduling decisions that maximise Carer efficiency while ensuring realistic transit times.

This means fewer delayed visits, less stressed carers, and more confident scheduling - ultimately supporting both operational efficiency and quality of care. The visual indicators make it easy to spot potential travel time conflicts at a glance, helping you maintain reliable care delivery schedules

You will be able to see:

  • The amount of time it will take a Carer to travel in hours and minutes

  • The mode of transport (car, walking, public transport)

When dragging and dropping a visit that has not left enough time for travel, you will receive a pop-up warning. This will indicate how many minutes are needed in order for the Carer to arrive at the next visit on time.

You can either select Cancel or Assign anyway to confirm the assignment to that Carer. If you assign the visit without enough travel time, you will see the travel time visual turn red.

How to turn off the Travel time feature

  1. Go to the Roster tab

  2. Click on the Display options button in the right-hand corner

  3. Click on Travel to toggle the view on and off

It will instantly make a change on your page, if not, please refresh your page. You can easily turn it back on by clicking the same button and re-selecting Travel.
